Profile bio

About Peter Blatchly

After a very rewarding career in the banking industry, and 35 years of loyal service with Barclays, I am now fortunate enough to have the opportunity to look for my next challenge within a Finance or Relationship Management related role.As an 18-year-old, with no clear idea of his career path, a junior role with the Bank set me on the road to develop a range of skills, knowledge and experience that I am keen to continue to use.My early career saw me work in the back office, cashiering, personal lending, sales advisor and then as an assistant to a Premier Account Manager. I then spent a 2-year period on secondment as an Account Manager looking after portfolios of high-net-worth individuals. At the end of my secondment, I moved over to Sales Finance. I initially spent my time in the back office ‘learning about the business’ and then had a spell as a Team Leader, looking after a team of 10 people. In August 2004 I secured a role as a Relationship Manager looking after a portfolio of Invoice Discounting and Factoring clients. During my time in this role, I have looked after a diverse array of businesses that includes, Hauliers, Printers, Manufacturers, Wholesalers and Recruiters. Generally, the business size would be between £1 - £25m, but these have included start-ups and businesses that have grown with me to over £50m. This is turn has seen me look after facilities of over £10m.This role has enabled me to follow my key passions:❑ Building relationships of honesty and trust, ❑ Doing a good job for my employer by finding new and innovative solutions and improvements for both the business and my clients❑ I have a ‘thirst for knowledge’. After 17 years in the same role, you think you have seen it all, but you haven’t!Outside of the day-to-day role I have been involved with projects that have looked to streamline processes within the business and also to improve our Digital capability to our clients. I also undertook a Business Mentoring course and spent a couple of years working with 4 businesses.I am also keen to support the local community. I spent 8 years as a Parent Governor at our local Primary School where I was chair of the Finance Committee. Since 2019 I have been a Trustee for Homecall, which is a charity in my home town of Bexhill that provides a home visiting service for the Visually impaired.I am a lover of all sports, especially those with a ball (both round and egg shaped). The body only allows me to be a keen golfer whose handicap has hovered around 10 for the majority of the forty years I have been playing

Listed skills include Trade Finance, Invoice Discounting, Factoring, Commercial Banking, and 11 others.
