I'm an IT enthousiast and professional with 15+ years of experience. I have worked at both small and large companies with the same goal in mind: delivering and maintaining a stable, reliable and flexible IT infrastructure which can meet the demands of both the current and future ambitions of the company. I started out working in this field with a passion for both the technical side as well as the proces of constant change and improvement. It is the positive impact that a well organised IT department and infrastructure has on the performance of a company that drives me to want to be part of this continuous improvement cycle which this field offers.Previously i have worked for Van Oord, one of the world's leading dredging companies. In this position i have traveled around the globe and have learned to work with people from all different cultural and organizational backgrounds in environments which may often be classified as challenging. In this position I also work with a wide range of products as an all-round infrastructure engineer. In one of my assignments I had the opportunity to fulfill one of my ambitions as acting as an IT project manager on the 2nd Suez canal project. A very challenging environment in which i had to act as both the IT project manager as well as the infrastructure engineer tasked with designing and implementing a Wi-MAX network with infrastructure services for 1200+ employees in a remote and strictly controlled military area with no existing communication infrastructure.One of the aspects I have always enjoyed is meeting new people and working together with colleagues from different backgrounds with which I can exchange ideas and share new insights with. This is one of the reasons i have always enjoyed travelling abroad for work and coping with all the different challenges which this presents.
