Dr. Peter Blumenthal is an occupational physician with training in pharmacology and toxicology and clinical experience in trauma. He learned injury management during 12,000 hours as an emergency physician. He learned to understand illnesses caused by toxic exposure during fellowship training in clinical pharmacology and toxicology. Therefore he is versed in the prevention and care of work related injuries and illnesses. This thorough preparation reflects in his clinical skills and is matched by organizational effectiveness. Dr. Blumenthal's practice focuses of medical/legal examinations and work ability examinations. He has conducted more than 37,000 so called IMEs, i.e. independent medical examinations.He has served as President of the Essex County Medical Society in 2003/4 and as Speaker of the House of the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine in 2004/5. He is President Elect of the Medical Society of New Jersey.Dr. Blumenthal feels that physicians need to be both professional and public advocates. Growing up in a family of teachers, he is a former Trustee of the Northern NJ Council of the Boy Scouts of America and supports the Court Appointed Special Advocates [CASA] of Essex County and NJ Kids Chance.
