Trained as an Air Traffic Control Officer at Swanwick Operational Control Unit. Attended the NATS Air Traffic Control college in Bournemouth enrolled in the Area surveillance control rating course as a trainee ATCO. Learnt in-depth aviation knowledge, undertook written and oral examinations, and performed many hours of practical radar simulation exercises. After successfully completing the college, posted to live operational unit at Swanwick and completed a 6 month Swanwick Validation Course specific to the airspace that live training would commence on in the Operational room. Gained over 600 hours in the Ops room on the Brecon and Berryhead sectors cotrolling live traffic.As a Simulation Support Officer in the training and development department, gained extensive knowledge on the simulators supporting NATS projects such as iFACTS, and SVC's. Also worked extensively on SESAR projects such as TBS (time based separation), iMSP (multi sector planner), CPDLC (computer pilot datalink communication).
