I have an extensive background in manufacturing, finance, exporting, and international government relations, having spent nearly 40 years at Ellicott Dredges, the leading global manufacturer of portable dredgers. As CEO, I helped a company founded in 1885 to grow from one facility to five, in four countries, and selling in over 50 countries. To achieve this, my team leveraged Ellicott’s reputation, starting with having built all the dredges used in the original construction of the Panama Canal, along with multiple acquisitions of complementary dredge brands serving different sectors, such as mining and wastewater treatment. We expanded our reputation for excellence as the industry leader with multiple technical innovations such as the dual bucket wheel excavator. I also helped restructure the dredge builder and specialty shipbuilder IHC Holland, now known as Royal IHC, when it faced insolvency, and I served on its Supervisory Board. My principal for-profit venture currently is publishing DredgeWire, a biweekly newsletter of dredging and related marine topics that I acquired with associate publisher Heiko Osterchrist. Our goal is to make DredgeWire the world’s best media property serving this market. It already has the largest audited circulation in its space as well as the widest breadth of content. At DredgeWire, we partner with people and companies to help them tell their story. We invite you to check out our most recent issue at www.dredgewire.com. While you’re there, sign up for your free subscription to ensure that you never miss an issue or important updates. For more information or to share your story on DredgeWire, connect with me at peterbowe321@gmail.com. I currently serve on both for-profit boards and not-for-profit boards, and have served on three start-up boards. In the not-for-profit arena, my wife and I founded the Bowe Stewart Foundation which focuses on civic education and supports organizations in Chicago and Baltimore that expand economic opportunity for disadvantaged individuals through education, training, and work: “creating opportunities through earned success.”
