Peter Bronson's statewide California practice is focused on creditors' rights; Chapter 11 bankruptcy; business and bankruptcy litigation; business transactions and disputes; entity formation and dissolution; homeowner's association matters; and appeals. Peter is past chair of (and currently an advisor to) the California Lawyers Association's Business Law Section, and in 2014 was the founding chair of the Business Law Section's Business Litigation Committee. He also has served as chair of the Business Law Section’s Insolvency Law Committee, and as chair of the Los Angeles County Bar Association’s Remedies Section. Peter served two terms as President of the Nevada County Bar Association, and has served for five years as chair of the Nevada County Bar’s Attorney’s Fees Arbitration Program.Peter is rated AV-Preeminent by Martindale-Hubbell, and has a 10.0 (superb) rating on Avvo.com. Although his offices are in Sacramento (two blocks from the State Capitol) and Nevada County, he regularly handles matters throughout California, both “live” and via telephone or video conference.As a mediator, Peter helps parties to disputes and/or lawsuits to resolve their claims and defenses against each other without the need for trial. He believes that his legal acumen, diligent preparation, and personalized approach to each case result in the successful resolution of disputes. He is also available to serve as an arbitrator. (An arbitration differs from a mediation in that an arbitrator decides the merits of a dispute, whereas a mediator assists the parties in negotiating their own settlement.) Typically, both mediation and arbitration are significantly less expensive and time-consuming than a formal court trial. Peter believes that mediation and arbitration can be particularly advantageous at times – such as the current Coronavirus pandemic – when courts are not fully available, convenient, or cost-effective for cases other than emergencies.
