About Peter Broom

After gaining over 30 year’s experience in innovating new, as well as improving existing technology for blue chip organisations, I co-founded Meryl Fabrics. Together, with my business partners, we have created in-house the first infinitely recyclable fabrics for virtually all applications, from simple face covers to fire resistance clothing. We pioneered this process to reduce our environmental impact with an easily cleaned longer-lasting fabric.True Infinite sustainability is here. Our innovation in sustainability continues to improve every day, with our experienced team continuing to develop the range of yarn/fabrics. Meryl Fabric's production methods make a huge difference, as there are no dyes, chemicals, solvents, and virtually no water, used in the production of yarn or fabric, reducing the pressure on local resources. The yarns and fabrics are manufactured entirely within Europe, benefitting everyone; firstly, the environmental and safety rules minimise any possible release of pollutants into our waterways while protecting the people that work in the industry. Secondly, the massive reduction in transport between countries during different manufacturing stages minimises the carbon footprint of the current methods in use today. The fabric's durability is three to five times longer than comparable fabrics, which means you need less to achieve the results you want, saving money and the planet. Our products don't shed microfibres at any stage of their operation life, to assist in reducing the catastrophic amount of microplastics in the world's oceans.Meryl Fabric's base material is a polymer and is a synthetic product. The difference is simple: we repeatedly reuse it; this includes the production waste, which can be as much as 22%, a significant first step. Next, taking all post-consumer products back to reuse gives us the circular economy we have achieved. We return the waste to its original base to produce new yarn with a straightforward process for new materials.Nylon 66 is the base polymer, and the manufacturing of the yarns is precise, and the use of hydrogen in this process reduces the risk of microplastics' shedding. We have also included the benefit of the antiviral effect, impeding the transmission of most types of enveloped virus, including MRSA, MMR and COVID-19, and is very effective in reducing odour by killing the bacteria. The technology is applied to the yarn during the spinning process and remains active for the product's life.We have tested the fabrics in everyday use: the results have been remarkable.
