Peter Burchhardt is an entrepreneur and investor. He co-founded ExpressVPN in 2009, growing it into one of the world's most well-known VPN providers with over 4 million active paying customers. He sold the business in 2021 and completed his transition to the new owners in 2023.In the beginning, Peter wrote a lot of the code himself, allowing ExpressVPN to bootstrap and remain in 50-50 ownership with his co-founder Dan Pomerantz until its sale. Over the next 14 years, Peter's role evolved into hiring, developing, and leading people, creating jobs for more than 1,000 people in over 20 cities, spending hundreds of millions of US dollars on vendors and salaries, and cultivating a community of ExpressVPN colleagues centred on psychological safety, humility, and radical candour.Today, Peter invests in and mentors other entrepreneurs through his investment firm, Titanium Birch.
