Manage subcontractors, suppliers in accordance with contract requirement ensuring high performance in terms of time, cost and quality. Identify potential cost savings and efficiency gains and recommend solutions. The Pacific Highway Upgrade Project - Tintenbar to Ewingsdale (T2E) is an important part of the Roads and Maritime Service (RMS) Pacific Highway Upgrade Program. The length of the upgrade is 16.3 km, starting at Ross Lane in Tintenbar and extending north to the existing Ewingsdale interchange, near the town of Ewingsdale. From there, the upgrade alignment will avoid the steep grades of St Helena Hill by way of a tunnel approximately 430m long and 45m below the ridge line. The tunnels consist of approximately 75m of cut and cover tunnel and 355m of tunnel mined tunnel. M5 East Filtration Plant (Bexley - Nsw)

Supervising site earth works for on site building for the M5 Air filtration plant. Supervising contractors doing building works, tunnel excavation and ground support works. Maintaining site safety enforcement Control of daily tool box and pre-start meetings. Baulderstone was the managing contractors for the project which was a RTA site. This project was a $63 million project that has taken 18 months to complete.

South Blakefield Coal Mine (Singleton - Hunter Valley Nsw)

Excavation of two drifts for future mine workings. One drift was a men and material drift by 600 metres in length on a 1/8th decline. Second drift was a belt drift into same coal seam which was 300 metres long also 1/8th decline. Hiring of skilled men for operation of road headers 105 and S200. Employed on the Transgrid Cable Tunnel supervising Shaft excavations along length of Tunnel. Checking on sub-contractors doing form work and Jet grouting and Seacant piling. Inspecting Shotcreting and general Shaft works on a day shift roster.

Underground Australia were engaged by the Project Manager, Howie Herring & Forsyth P/L to provide labour and equipment on the Tower Conveyor Upgrade Project. Supervising the upgrading of five kilometres of belt structure. Supervising major installations and equipment change outs. General housekeeping. All safety matters pertaining to my shift. Conducting weekly safety meetings. Writing daily shift reports and liasing with the on-site Project Manager.

Rennison Tin, Zeehan, Tasmania

Supervising the efficient operation of a shift of 4 - 5 men sinking the shaft by drill & blast. All safety matters pertaining to my shift. Inspecting the shaft walls after blasting and determining the location and number of the initial support consisting of 2.4 M chemical rock bolts.

North Cliff Coal Mine, Wollongong

Australian Raise Drilling (ARD) were engaged by North Cliff Coal Mine to carry out development work at the mine prior to full scale production. I was recruited by ARD’s Contract Manger to lead a team of drill and blast miners carrying out this development work.

Anthony Power Development

This major hydro electric construction project consisted (in part) of an underground power station and approximately 10km of hard rock tunnel. Excavation was by drill and blast and was carried out by direct labour. My involvement was mainly with the excavation, support and lining of the 7.6km of the Headrace Tunnel and required a working knowledge of the Tasmanian Mines Act and Regulations.
