Responsible for a fully autonomous Retail Division of the Tote comprising 520 betting shops with turnover in excess of £2 billion, £120M+ G.P and 2500 employees. Retained Group HR Director responsibilities in a matrix structure for all the group divisional companies employing up to 5000 employees and casual staff.

Responsible for all Tote Divisions’ (Totesport Retail, Totesport Internet and Telephone, Totepool and International) IT infrastructure, development and strategy. Retained Group HR Director responsibilities. Worked with Divisional MD’s to align IT strategy and delivery to business priorities.

Responsible for the development and implementation of Tote’s HR strategy covering up to 5000 nationally based employees and staff in over 600 locations. Unionised environment with a payroll in excess of £60m.

Divisional businesses in the Group included at various times, Pools, Home Shopping, High Street Retail, Financial Services, Printing Operations, International Division and Logistics. Multi site operator owned by Moore’s family before sale to David and Frederick Barclay in 2002.Dec 2002 – Aug 2004 HR Director, Littlewoods Stores Ltd.ResponsibilitiesInitially part of the Divisional team responsible for the Littlewoods Stores and Index combined Retail businesses of over 400 sites before the further separation into two separate businesses, which was the precursor to the future sale and disposal of these retail companies. After separation I was a member of the Littlewoods Stores Executive Team and a member of the Divisional Board with 6000 employees, 150 stores and a turnover in excess of £800mNov 1999 – Dec 2002 HR Director, OperationsResponsible for operational HR, Training and Development for at peak up to 24,000 highly unionised staff in a £2billion turnover business. Part of the Management Team with responsibilities for delivering the integration of the separate Retail and Home Shopping Divisions, including Logistics and supply chain and all support areas.
