'I cannot teach anyone anything, I can only make them think.'-SocratesMy tryst with teaching started with a random birthday visit to an orphanage where I interacted with some children in class 6. When I blew out the 24 candles on my cake, I made them count with me. And to my utter horror, they could not keep count after 9. Some investigation later I found out these children were deprived of a formal education and were enrolled into local government schools directly at the level they were rescued. And this meant most of these children felt like utter failures in class, trying to learn differentiation without knowing the difference between whole numbers and real numbers.The next month saw me return to teach these children basic maths, the next year saw me return to teach maths science and social science. Some classes were assessed, and some classes were brainstorming sessions, and some were just poem recitations(I am a closet poet), but they were mostly just children opening up to new thoughts and concepts in a non threatening environment.I have since done an M.Tech, worked in marketing and communications, and am currently living my dream of being an e-teacher by leading the curriculum and content team for the digital marketing certification course at upGrad. I am currently exploring how technology can alter learning and am always looking for an e-learning experience I can curate.Currently toying with the goal to experience (as opposed to visit) 60 countries by 2050.
