Our customers tell me that I am someone who knows more than most about doors. I’ve been with Hart Door Systems now for over 14 years, having spent 10 years as production manager, I now have the pleasure of being out on the road as area sales manager.What most customers want to know, is how we can solve their problems with doors. We take a very close look at how the door(s) is opening and ask what is coming in through door – people, fork trucks, large vehicles or similar. It’s important to build a clear picture of what the client is trying to do with the door opening so we can recommend the best door solution for their needs.We might even take the time for several meetings to get the right solution. My aim is to always deliver the best work and never to let the client down. We always do what we say we will do!I have so much engineering experience and a range of management roles under my belt that help me to look at things from the customer perspective and get the job right first time. Starting my career off as an apprentice – and being so keen that I won apprentice of the year award, I now like to help others do the same. Job satisfaction is so important for me and that’s a message I like to get across to our apprentices. The 3 top tips that I like to share with them is:• if a job needs doing, do it right from start to finish. For me, that means feeding back the correct information from the sales visit at the outset so the team can translate this into a smart and efficient, top quality product• Give 100% and do what you promise – always be honest and tell the truth• In engineering always do the things correctly from the start – neglect this and it will come back to bite youDay to day I love meeting different people and solving challenges. Every business and project is different. The bespoke designs are a favourite of mine and valuable to the client - solving the puzzle for them.
