I came into college knowing that I wanted to work with computers in one way or another. I had my mind set on the Computer & Data Science major and was very excited to start my college career. I struggled my first two years as to whether or not this is really what I wanted to do with my life. However, at the end of my sophomore year and currently, through my junior year, I found a deep passion for my line of work. People always ask me why I like struggling with complex problems all day and my response to those people is always that there is no greater feeling than working hard on something, pressing that button, and it works flawlessly. It is one of the most rewarding aspects of Computer Science. Through my college career, so far, I started with basic level Python and JavaScript and have worked my way up to knowing all the ins and outs of these two languages as well as working with other languages such as HTML and CSS styles, jQuery, and Data Structures/Algorithms including HashMaps, AVL Heaps, Merge Sort, Quick Sort, Topological Sort, Trees, Minimal Spanning Trees, Single-source Shortest Path, All Pairs Shortest Path, Dijkstra/Kruskal’s Algorithm, Linked Lists, Doubly Linked Lists, as well as topics with a more direct focus which include: Data Visualization, Distributed Systems, and AI thus far.
