Areas of responsibility include acquisitions management support, generating acquisition and contract documentation and defining Safety Program requirements for the WAAS program's current and future phases (WFO and DFO), three GEO leased service programs (GEO 5/6, GCCS, and Inmarsat). I have also support Safety Engineering tasks for the FAA's new Instrument Landing System procurement, the Low Power Distance Measuring Equipment, and the Transponder Landing System.I manage the WAAS System Safety Program, maintain the System Safety Program Plan, chair bi-weekly System Safety Working Group meetings for the WAAS and GEO leased service programs, and direct the System Safety Engineering team efforts in support of program progress goals and schedules.On behalf of the FAA, I am responsible for FAA Safety Management System-compliant Safety Risk Management activities on all changes to the WAAS and on the GEO programs we manage. SRM includes safety risk assessments, hazard identification and resolution, and risk documentation.Our Safety Team maintains a library of Safety Engineering process descriptions for performing the Safety Analyses and Tasks required to support the integrity and service continuity of the WAAS.We perform and maintain the Safety Analyses for the WAAS, including Fault Tree Analysis, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis, Common Cause Analysis.We are familiar with and provide expertise to other FAA programs in industry standard aviation system safety guidelines, including the Society of Automotive Engineering (SAE) Aerospace Recommended Practices (ARP) 4754 guidance for safety assurance of complex aviation systems, ARP 4761 guidance for safety analyses, and RTCA/DO-178B guidance for software assurance of complex systems. -
