I managed the employment and skills functions of Gloucestershire County Council and GFirst LEP including the GCC Adult Education Service, the LEP's work on ESF-funded projects and careers support in secondary schools across the County.

I worked with a range of organisations developing and extending their online services to customers: Department of Work and Pensions (DWP); Government Digital Service (GDS); Post Office; social housing providers/landlords; local authorities; Money Advice Service; etc. I helped them reach customers who are currently offline/digitally excluded or online but without the skills/confidence/access to access and transact online.In particular, I worked with several teams across DWP in order to:* Prepare for the introduction of Universal Credit* Increase uptake of DWP digital services* Ensure digital inclusion and financial inclusion are managed effectively together* Adjust and refine services to be more accessible to people who are offline/not confident onlineI also managed the work of 180 UK online centres' funded to support: unemployed people to get into work; disabled people; carers. All these centres reach out and attract customers from these groups and help develop their digital and IT skills and build their confidence to learn and do more online.

South West Region

Strategic and operational management of the 26 learndirect South West region learning providers delivering through 47 learning centres to provide learning for 56,000 learners. Achieved all LSC contract targets for Skills for Life, NVQs, Train to Gain, etc. Establishment and ongoing management of external relationships with a widerange of partner organisations including: Jobcentre Plus; Prison Service; Probation Service; Learning & Skills Council; SWRDA; Association of Colleges and FE colleges in the region; TUC; Chambers of Commerce; learning partnerships, etc.Nominee for learndirect's regional Ofsted inspection in the South West that resulted in an overall grade 2 (good).Development and management of the region’s widening participation strategy toreach and engage ‘hard to reach’ learners. Managed the South West region’sUK online activity including its piloting of a quality mark for UK online centresand the regional e-government project.

Bristol

Development and implementation of strategies for workforce development and marketing across the Gloucestershire & West of England Hub areas, including work with SMEs, corporates, local authorities and specific sectors e.g. care sector. Support for new learning venues to meet the business plan objectives in the two hub areas. Responsible for partnership working across a network of approx. 25 learning providers and for language, literacy & numeracy provision including the national certificates.

Education and training consultancy for a wide range of organisations including the Qualifications & Curriculum Authority (QCA), three NTOs (SPRITO, TTENTO and CHNTO), Further Education Development Agency (FEDA), awarding bodies (EdExcel, AQA, OCR), Network Training, and the National Coaching Foundation. This work included running workshops across the country for teachers and lecturers, preparing new curricula, managing a range of projects in schools, LEAs and FE colleges.

Curriculum leadership for GNVQ advanced & intermediate, BTEC national and first diplomas, ‘A’ level sports studies, HND leisure management, industry-specific short courses. This involved approx. 170 students per year aged 16 – 25 and approx. 20 full and part-time staff.Income generation through development of short-course offer and marketing of leisure centre and gym membership/customer packages.
