After graduating Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering from Melbourne University I worked at Commonwealth Aircraft Corporation, Then Malcolm Moore on off highway truck design and then with E A Franklin where i was one of the earliest designers of air suspensions for trucks and buses in Australia. Then I was Project Engineer with Victa Aviation Division in Sydney on the Air tourer aircraft. Returning to Geelong I started my own business to further develop air suspensions for semi trailers.I was approached by the Ford Motor company and offered the position of Product engineer.After a short time in a special group at Ford designing a military truck for the Australian Army, I became a lecturer in Industrial Design at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. I reestablished my own business, but was approached again by the Ford Motor company and accepted their offer. Three years later I was offered the position of Chief Engineer of the Diesel Truck manufacturer, Seddon Atkinson Australia.After a few years this was acquired by International Harvester, and closed down. I returned to Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology in the Aviation faculty, the Art faculty and the Mechanical Engineering Faculty over a period of years, with short breaks where I worked on the Boeing 707 flight refuelled project at CAC and the Wamira trainer aircraft project with the Australian Aircraft consortium.I undertook manufacturing rubber pad pressed wing rib and fuselage frame components for Gippsland Aeronautics for their GA200 crop duster and GA8 Airvan, as well as spare parts for aircraft repair and replica aircraft building.This continues at present.
