SouthGrow Regional Initiative was formed in 2003 and is a member-driven not-for-profit Regional Economic Development Alliance for south-central Alberta. SouthGrow encompasses twenty-six communities with a total population of approximately 172,000, which includes the City of Lethbridge. SouthGrow encourages collaboration, focuses on regional economic development, and ensures the region has equal opportunity for growth and development.As the Executive Director of SouthGrow, I coordinate the economic development efforts of the communities within the region and manage projects on behalf of our members. I also manage the organizations' day to day administrative needs and work with our Board of Directors to develop and operationalize strategic plans and priorities.

Economic Development Consultancy

SMBapps provides Community-focused mobile technology that brings people together. Municipalities, Schools, or Business, our apps bring people together as the perfect tool for mass communication or mobile marketing in an age where everyone has a computer at their fingertips. As a consultant contracting to SMBapps, I helped them build from concept to active sales, envisioning and creating much of their marketing and sales strategy, and the resources to go along. Now I assist with much of the ongoing technical work, provide consultation and advice to new clients, and craft new creative and marketing strategies as the company grows and expands.

My part-time role at Jedwin Media Inc. has me overseeing day to day finances for a digital marketing company comprised of 14 employees and contractors from 3 different countries. I also oversee the corporate marketing services, directing Jedwin's self-promotion in order to raise the company's profile, connect with new leads, and secure new clients.

The Lethbridge Chamber of Commerce is The Voice of Business for the city, promoting and enhancing a healthy economic and social environment in our region by serving the interests of business.As the Communications and Policy Strategist, I worked to stay abreast of every development in the economic and social sphere, offering key advice and insight to local decision makers and crafting policy documents that were advocated for at City Hall, the Provincial Legislature, and Parliament Hill. I offered expert communications advice to the staff and board, and worked with their team to champion the cause of business.

Jedwin Media Inc. is an up and coming digital marketing company company that specializes in rejuvenating established businesses or launching startups from concept to exponential growth. At Jedwin Media I played an instrumental role in retooling their systems and processes from a small shop to that of a professional corporation, with the systems in place to foster rapid growth. I personally oversaw the restructuring of their corporate accounting, project management systems, and filing and tracking systems, while also conducting audits on company overhead and instituting reforms that vastly improved corporate efficiencies.

Lethbridge Family Services is the largest human services non-profit in Southwestern Alberta, employing over 350 staff and improving the lives of more than 8000 people every year. As part of the Advancement and Community Relations team, I worked to build strong community connections while increasing agency resources and coordinating activities and events which promoted awareness and support for the valuable work that they do. I coordinated and led agency events and fundraising efforts, played a key role in the communications strategy, and advised the leadership team on government relations. When the opportunity arose, I served in an unofficial capacity as the Director of the department for four months, and shouldered the responsibility for the entire portfolio.

The Keg Steakhouse and Bar is consistently ranked as one of Canada's top employers. In my time at the Keg, I crafted the ability to communicate effectively with individuals from all walks of life. The important 'people skills' I learned at the Keg have served me well in every role I've stepped into.

The Lethbridge Cocktail Showcase is a charitable organization which organizes and hosts charity cocktail competitions in support of community causes. As Managing Director, I oversee each component project, manage connections, forge new relationships in cooperation with our partners, and work to develop our policy and procedures.We've had some great events, and I hope that the Cocktail Showcase will take flight again soon and drive more charitable donations to some great causes through its numerous libations.

At Lethbridge Family Services - Immigrant Services, I worked with highly barriered government assisted refugees to help them successfully integrate into Canadian society. Working on the front lines of a vulnerable sector taught me so much about the struggles faced by newcomers to Canada, their hope and resiliency, and how important immigration is to our nation. I built relationships and learnt lessons here that have informed my world-view and which gave me an insight into the immense social strength of diversity.
