I lead a multi-disciplined team of 52 people, made up of mechanical fitters, electricians, rigger scaffolders and lubrication technicians responsible for the reliability and ongoing maintenance of the ship loading section at Gladstone Ports cooperation. My time is spent working with people to achieve business plans by working with safety programs, equipment reliability programs, and computer maintenance management systems with a continuous improvement focus. I contribute to the development of the Port Operations – Cargo Handling business plan by:Implementing the business plan and ensure improvement projects are completed on time and to pre-determined specificationsLead a dedicated team to implement Lean Manufacturing concepts to the business with a focus on workshops as a priority.Instil the GPC values within the ship loading maintenance workgroup through effective leadership and development by:Using formal performance management systems to effectively review and reward workgroup and individual performanceEnsuring appropriate skill level of the area by identifying gaps in the individuals Training and Development plans and providing appropriate resources for training.Develop a team based culture by continually communicating and promoting accountability to the teamMaintaining the required levels of plant availability and reliability for the ship loading maintenance sectionManaging the maintenance of the plant and equipment.Prepare budgets and manage financial resources through analysis of the workgroups financial position and the implications on the greater departmental budgetEnsure that the maintenance workgroups meet or exceed the Health, Safety and Environment Management System requirements by fostering HS & E aligned working behaviours, conditions and practices, targeted at achieving zero incidents and injuries
