This required a humble approach towards the opposition and listening to their input before making various decisions. The department was responsible for more than 15 different policy areas, and among other things, I coordinated state growth work in the county, security and preparedness, climate adaptation, national/regional infrastructure planning, social sustainability including Agenda 2030, coordination of municipalities' reception of refugees, gender equality, and human rights perspectives.The position also involved extensive external representation, where I represented the County Administrative Board and state interests in the county. Some of these assignments included Competence Collaboration Skåne, the Steering Committee for the Öresund subprogram within Interreg, the South Baltic Programme, and the Structural Funds Programme for Skåne-Blekinge. Additionally, I served as the chairman of Öresund Direct, a Danish-Swedish collaboration to promote integration across the Öresund. A common thread in all my roles is that they aim to promote Skåne's growth and profile in Northern Europe.During my time as a department head at the County Administrative Board, I had the responsibility of leading and coordinating several crises internally/externally, such as the refugee situation in 2015, the drought in 2018, and the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020-2021.Furthermore, I was the national object owner for the digitalization of the community planning process for all 21 county administrative boards.
