In March 2015 I retired from BDO and I now carry out expert witness work on financial reporting issues and provide consulting to international and financial services companies on accounting and compliance issues. Following my retirement as a partner in July 2013 I was a part time consultant to BDO specialising in forensic work. I acted as an expert on a number of occasions more recently both in respect of reporting and auditing issues in the Financial Services Industry and more generally in respect of the appropriate treatment under UK GAAP and IFRS Before July 2013 I was both an audit partner specialising in Financial Services and a senior technical partner who was responsible for the BDO Professional Services Group from 1990 until 2008. I was a partner for over twenty years both as an audit partner responsible for signing audit reports on regulated clients and as a technical partner. Internationally I was for thirteen years the Chairman of the BDO International Audit and Accounting Committee the major international technical committee within BDO.I was also a memnber of the Accounting Standards Comittee's Urgent Issues Task Force and the Chairman of ICAEW's Business Law Committee, I was the author of a major text on auditing standards in the UK, Implementing GAAS, which is now in its fifteenth edition and is published by CCH
