Project Co-LeadMelbourne Space Program Oct 2020 - Jul 2022Melbourne, Victoria, AustraliaCo-led the effort for developing the second CubeSat to be launched into LEO by the Melbourne Space Program. The focus of the mission was on earth observation. During my time as co-lead, we were able to:- Come up with a vision & project statement for ACRUX-2 by consulting with industry (ASA, Saber Astronautics, University of Melbourne etc.). The decision to pivot to Earth Observation was based on the National Civil Space Priorities of the Australian Civil Space Strategy (2019 - 2028).- Carry out the feasibility study for ACRUX-2 in preparation for the ASA Moon to Mars grant- Establish year-to-year funding rounds from the University of Melbourne- Complete the Project Proposal for ACRUX-2 (including budgets, timelines & future work)- Receive two separate Blackbird Foundation Grants for our subsystems- Develop various prototypes for our subsystems (e.g. 2D detumbling system, V1 of Chassis etc) -
Engineering Team MemberMelbourne Space Program Sep 2019 - Sep 2020Melbourne, AustraliaPart of the Space Division within MSP working on the ACRUX-2 satellite, a project focusing onthe responsible use of space• Helped develop a team structure model that will be implemented during ACRUX-2 development• Worked on the Conceptual Design of ACRUX-2 (System Level requirements)• Conducted research on various nanosat subsystems (e.g. Thermal control, attitude control system etc.) in preparation for ACRUX-2• Worked on Preliminary Design of ACRUX-2 (Interface control document)• Worked alongside the CSIRO to produce an animation for a novel satellite feature. Supervisors: Dr Mei Gao and Steven Despotellis• Involved in SmartSAT CRC challenge "Firefly" - Awarded up to $100k of funding for further development of the MVP proposal. Currently acting as an advisor for the project -
Project LeadAres - Aerospace & Rocket Engineering Society Sep 2019 - Jun 2022Melbourne, AustraliaFounder & team lead of the University of Melbourne's Rocketry team. My achievements during my time as team lead include:- Winning the Charles Hoult Modelling & Simulation Award at the 2022 Spaceport America Cup among 97 other teams from all over the world. The award was based on the work we did on the transition section of our rocket, effectively decreasing skin drag by 38% and reducing the severity of the shockwaves around the transition region. - Competing in the Spaceport America Cup 2022 competition in New Mexico, US against 97 other teams from all over the world. Placed in the top quartile overall flying a highly optimised rocket to 10,000ft on an L2 motor using SRAD electronics. The rocket carried a medical payload (3U) that recorded the compression of the cervical spine in high G environments. - Competing in the (online) Australian Rocketry University Competition (AURC) in 2020- Developing all of the team's system procedures in conjunction with our Operations & Logistics lead (Risk assessments, inductions, timelines/system engineering docs, meetings, reviews, retros etc.)- Securing key sponsors (QinetiQ) and partnerships- Securing substantial annual funding for the team from the University of Melbourne- Incorporating various R&D projects (TVC, Hybrid engines, active drag control) as University of Melbourne capstone projects- Managing a team of over 150 people across 4 years- Ensuring the continuation of the team and all its associated projects for years to come -
PresidentAerospace & Rocket Engineering Society (Ares) Oct 2018 - Oct 2019Melbourne, Australia- Organised inaugural Aerospace Industry Night at the University of Melbourne with industry leaders (e.g. Boeing, XM2, DefendTex, Swoop Aero etc)- Awarded 'Large Club of the Year' award at the University of Melbourne- Marketing campaign that led to 230 memberships (153% increase from previous record year)- Compiled Business Plan & Sponsorship Prospectus- Collaborated with the AAFC & participated at the Australian Air Force Cadets Exposition 2019 - Partnered & collaborated with Haileybury City to conduct 14-week rocketry workshop
