Key highlights include:• nbn’s first Sustainability Strategy, publication of its first Sustainability Report, and establishment of nbn’s Executive Committee for Sustainability resulting in a coordinated approach across ESG related issues, critical risks managed and mitigated, and further value creation opportunities unlocked• HSE strategies, systems and support services evolution has continued through transition to ISO45001, enhanced performance measures, and targeted intervention to further reduce incident and injury rates• Strategic functional re-organisation to better reflect 3 lines of defence model, increase maturity, and promote line management accountability for HSE • Pandemic health response continued across all lines of business including the wellbeing plan to protect the physical and mental wellbeing of those impacted by lengthy lockdowns

I led nbn’s property portfolio and vehicle fleet operations, in an integrated function with health, safety, environment and wellbeing. From an operational and HSE perspective, this period of time represented the peak of the network build with a large external contractor workforce of approx. 20,000+. Key highlights included: • HSE strategies, systems and support services evolution continued with key improvements made to strengthen governance, risk mitigation, and further reduce incident and injury rates• Further development of a deeper and more long-range mental health strategy and plan• Establishing nbn’s energy efficiency and renewable energy strategy• Pandemic health response coordinated across all lines of business including the wellbeing response to protect the physical and mental wellbeing of those impacted by lengthy lockdowns

NBN Co was established in 2009 to design, build and operate Australia’s wholesale broadband access network. I led the transformation of the HSE function and management framework at one of Australia’s largest ever infrastructure projects. The transformation included HSE strategy development, systems evolution, and building ‘best in class’ support services resulting to significantly lower incident and injury rates and increased wellbeing participation through cultural change, leadership and targeted intervention. Key highlights included: • Reorganising and building the capability of the HSE function to gain trust with stakeholders, support internal customers, and deliver results• Shifting the focus to eliminating and mitigating high consequence events through the implementation of HSE Critical Risk Controls • Enabling the Critical Risk Controls and the broader HSE management system controls through a new IT platform• Introduction of an Executive Leader due diligence safety program • Launching an enterprise wide physical and mental wellbeing program • Expansion of energy efficiency and renewable energy projects

The primary focus in both roles at John Holland was to refocus the safety program and reduce the risk of high consequence events across all lines of business. Later in my time at John Holland I helped bring health, safety and environmental management together forming an integrated HSE function. Key highlights included: • Led the development and implementation of a safety transformational program. The strategy focused on 4 key workstreams: Leadership, Behaviour, Governance & Standards which resulted in early wins and set the trajectory for future favourable incident and injury trends.

Working as part of the global HSE team for Lend Lease’s construction business (overseeing operations in the Americas, UK, Europe, Asia and Australia), I was accountable for key projects, coordinating the global audit program, HSE governance and reporting, and the investigation of high consequence events (where required).

Based in Singapore, I led the implementation of Lend Lease’s global safety standards across Asian operations. This complex project identified the sustainable practices and solutions that were available in each market, and then implemented and embedded these practices across the region reducing the likelihood of a high consequence event.
