As the core of my thesis work, I have developed methods to slice individual Drosophila embryos, then perform RNAseq on those slices, thus bringing spatial resolution to genome-wide approaches for studying an important developmental model system. In wild-type D. melanogaster, the spatial and temporal patterns that I detect agree with extensive in situ.

Helped teach calculus, physics, programming, and observational astronomy at intensive residential summer program for high school students. Lectured on Python programming and basic computer science. Developed protocol for attaching E. Coli to slides suitable for optical trapping experiments. Wrote custom LabView software to automatically control trapping apparatus for experiments.
