Peter C. Contino, Rivkin Radler’s general counsel, represents clients in professional liability, commercial liability, products liability, public entity liability, and other insurance-related litigation.A founding partner of the firm’s Professional Liability Practice Group, Peter has successfully defended hundreds of cases brought against directors and officers, lawyers, accountants, insurance brokers, insurance agents, police officers, school administrators, public officials, computer consultants, home inspectors, and real estate brokers and agents.Peter represents professionals in disciplinary proceedings. In product liability litigation, Peter represents manufacturers of plumbing and bathroom fixtures; medical devices; turf and garden equipment; milling, molding, and manufacturing equipment; hand tools and woodworking equipment; fire suppression systems; and consumer appliances.Peter was named a Super Lawyer in the Metro New York area in Professional Liability Defense for 2014 and 2015.He is an instructor in the Hofstra University School of Law Trial Advocacy Program and, since 1985, has been a faculty member of the National Institute for Trial Advocacy, Northeast Regional Program.Peter also is a member of the Defense Research Institute Committee on Professional Liability, a former member of the American Bar Association Standing Committee on Legal Malpractice, and a frequent speaker on professional liability. His speech at the American Bar Association Spring 2013 National Legal Malpractice Conference was entitled, “An Overview of Federal Statutes and Regulations; Traps and a Little Salvation.” He also presented a clinic at the conference entitled, “The Noerr-Pennington Doctrine: A War Story About a Lawyer’s Salvation.”
