After a few years in the IT sector and shoring up my qualifications, I am finally working toward my desired role and degree. Forensic science and investigation has always been of interest to me and being a part of a sector that actively helps those people that need it is something I have always wanted.Throughout my time at USW I've gone through a number of different scientific fields (anthropology, entomology, microbiology, genetics, organic chemistry) as well as gained practical investigation skills in their mock 'Crime Scene House'. I am now working on my dissertation, a project that aims to investigate the efficacy of enhancing fingerprinting through different techniques. I am now ready to be looking for graduate roles within the Forensic Sector, I am hoping to become a Crime Scene Investigator, working toward a specialism in Ballistic Forensics.

I had now progressed fully into the network analyst side of IT support. Infrastructure troubleshooting, as well as datacentre management, were the day-to-day tasks in this role.

Focusing more on the networking side of IT and building on my previous knowledge of telecoms I joined IP Solutions as a Telecoms Support Specialist. This was mostly similar to the other 1st line roles I had been in but with a lot more insight into networking processes and LAN/WAN troubleshooting. Part of this role also included the administration of in-house IT and equipment with our sales team and account managers. Being mentored by our 3rd line network engineer I have learnt a huge amount about troubleshooting at a network level, including Wireshark, IP subnetting/configuration and the utilisation of network topology's.

Gaining yet more experience with MS Office and Active Directory Software, working for Capita taught me the value and process of an ITIL Certified Service desk. Following Standardised procedures and using proper points of contact for escalations I feel my time at Capita made me much more of a professional rather just an employee.

Using existing knowledge in IT I joined VirginCare quickly after leaving College. Starting as just a 1st Line Service Desk Analyst I became experienced with most MS Office applications, Active Directory software and Citrix. I went on to become a member of the Telephony and Mobile Devices team, working on BlackBerrys, HTC's, Samsung Tablets and Basic Nokia Handsets. This became an even larger role with the addition of Avaya IP Deskphones across our user base.
