Reporting directly to the CFO and leading the Management Accounts team, I was responsible for the production of the monthly Group Management Accounts for the Board Pack. This included the P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow, Forecasts and KPI’s. I was brought in to strengthen the existing team as the company was acquired by a Private Equity company, from being privately owned. Significant work and improvements were required to bring the existing accounts up to standard, developing new processes and controls. The company experienced fast growth and multiple acquisitions with significant work required to bring them in line with the group accounting policies. I also produced the group statutory accounts and was the main point of contact during the audit process.

I was covering for 12 months as the Accountant for the Germany, Austrian and Italian companies within Premier Farnell. The role was responsible for all areas of finance within these companies, including the Management accounts, Balance sheets, VAT Returns and Audits. The role was extended after the initial 12 months to oversee month end for all companies, identify process improvements and support with the transition relating to outsourcing a large part of the finance function.

I was initially brought in on an interim basis to provide support following the takeover of large subsidiary and integration of two finance teams, quickly gaining a wide amount of knowledge and experience within the organisation, backfilling existing staff and monitoring costs relating to the integration. The next project I worked on was the set-up of a complex new company and funding facility within the group which included the financial modelling, accounting systems, processes and controls. I was then responsible the overhead costs within the company with a budget of £26m, the main areas included Salaries, IT, Marketing & Depreciation. Working closely and business partnering with the HR Director, IT Director, Marketing and Business Development. My main responsibilities included the month end accounts preparation and reporting along with the variance analysis, forecasting and budget setting of the overhead costs for the company.
