Daily breakdown workload e.g. fault finding work on a wide spectrum of Mechanical Handling Equipment (MHE) including fault finding diagnoses using laptop technology.Planning preventative maintenance servicing schedules.On site hard copy record keeping, including service.Maintaining and controlling of site costs using Key Performance Indicator guidance.Regular contact with our external suppliers (some of which are invited to attend our monthly on site meetings) with regards to any technical queries with reference to any equipment they have supplied e.g. FLT Attachments.Arrange and oversee any sub contract work required on the site, obtain site authorisation and prepare method statements / risk assessments were required.Conduct driver familiarisation training on site when required.Maintaining safe systems of working on site, including updating as required COSHH data sheets (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health).Involved in suggesting and highlighting any solutions or modifications, and preparing any drawings and reports to that effect through our Technical Services Department.Liaise with client on a daily basis. All paperwork reporting, downloaded daily to our service office using laptop technology, and the completion of service inspection certificates.Audit and Monitor on site best practice by working to approved codes of practice (ACOPs) and guidance, ensuring the internal transport fleet meet current legislation and statutory provisions e.g. Lifting Operation and Lifting Equipment regulations (LOLER) Provision of Use of Work Equipment regulations (PUWER).I attend monthly on site review meetings that are held with the client, relevant associates and Area Service Managers to feedback site status. Suggest and discuss any on site problem areas and propose solutions or any Health and Safety control measures that may be required, also discuss, maintain, and control site costs e.g. KPI’s.

During 1991 I moved on to become a mobile field based Senior Service Engineer covering a large area of East and North Yorkshire. This role varied from day to day visiting many customer sites dealing with all situations e.g. breakdown repairs, servicing, delivery inspections, off hire inspections, customer meetings etc. this was a very interesting and fulfilling role within my employers after sales network, gaining valuable experience and knowledge of the industry first hand.

Birds Eye Foods Ltd - Hull

In July 1980 I joined the UK division of Jungheinrich (UK) LTD a major German materials handling manufacturer, who employs Engineers throughout the UK where I was employed as a Site Shift Engineer on one of their many customer’s sites, this particular site Birds Eye Foods LTD was a large food processor with cold storage distribution in Hull with a large fleet of internal transport. There I was part of a 5 man team servicing and carrying out repairs on a mixed fleet of diesel engine and electric powered fork lift trucks, carrying out all aspects of engine and transmission repairs, including hydraulics systems through to major equipment overhauls. It was during this period I retuned to Hull College for 3 years gaining my HNC in Motor Vehicle Management. After 5 years of being a Site Shift Engineer I became Site Shift Supervisor for 6 years, responsible for labour planning and budgeting man hours to cover shifts, also maintaining costing levels
