My working experience covers a variety of roles, firstly in automotive engineering followed by design and manufacture for precision test equipment and finally by a fruitful career in automotive design and styling. Since gaining my Degree in Automotive and Industrial Design my career has spanned four years with an independent design consultancy followed by twenty five years service within Jaguar Land Rover's Design and Concept Department and since 2012 as an independent design consultant and lecturer on the subject of Automotive Design. I have enjoyed the opportunity of utilising my wealth of varied skills and experience including 2D sketching and presentation for concept development through to 3D scale and full size clay models for theme selection and final design development, design for packaging, prototype and manufacture. These have all been achieved as a result of being able to manage program delivery on time and within budget, whilst enjoying healthy working relations when coaching and developing team working to deliver creative thinking and new concepts in design and manufacture with industry leading standards. I am well versed in the use of Photoshop presentation and I am familiar with the development of design for production using ICEM Surf and CATIA. I have recently completed a course in CATIA V5 to expand my knowledge of the system. Concurrent to the above time with JLR I have been engaged as an external examiner for a number of university design courses and enjoyed the opportunities afforded to me by a number of higher education establishments to deliver automotive design process presentations.
