With Babcock CMC I will be central to the delivery of robust and professional electronic configuration data to support the engineering effort of the company. My responsibilities in this role are as follows:1) Accurately tracking design changes from (sometimes first issue) A&A Guidance Instructions , DAR changes and Class Mods all the way through to recording current fit in SDD through the SFD app. This Equipment Feedback task is only on in-dock submarines in Devonport.2) Issuing and recording of all mechanical fitting numbers and pipe numbers for all equipment on every submarine in the fleet.3) Monitoring all maintenance packages and screening for component changes to all mechanical equipment. Any change (removal, modify or fit) results in changes to submarine SCP’s (System Component Publications). I ensure the necessary design changes are analysed, drawings and material lists edited and the changes forwarded in order that SCP’s remain extant and accurate. 4) Lead the the programme to populate the SCP dataset for A-Class submarines. Head of section for Internal Communications with responsibility for maintaining the M50 telephone exchange, whole ship broadcast system and emergency communications devices. During this assignment I was qualified as an Officer of the Quarter, a role previously never held by a Leading Hand in the history of the submarine service. Responsible to Command for the safe stowage of explosives as well as direct charge of the tubes crew for weapon movements and weapon discharges.

Hmnb Devonport

Left the service for two years but was employed as a civilian contractor in what was traditionally my old position. Employed as a mechanic in Torpedo Loading party in HMNB Defiance. Team member for weapon movements with an in depth knowledge of explosives safety. Team member for complex Base Staff repairs including inaugural replacement of balancing cylinder seals on an afloat submarine.

Responsible for basic diagnostics and routine maintenance on submerged signal ejectors, 400Hz motor generators and degaussing motor generators.
