Working as part of Lake Macquarie Councils City Projects Project Management Team, City Projects is responsible for the investigation, design and delivery of a range of public infrastructure projects.The Project Management section manages the delivery of a range of community infrastructure, which includes design reviews, calling quotes/tenders, contract management and conducting compliance inspections for subdivisions and DA works that become Council assets.My role includes;• Project manage various projects including the procurement and contract management of goods and services in line with legislative and Council policies;• Prepare contract documentation including specifications, calling quotations and tenders and administer contracts in the execution of public works;• Provide project liaison with clients in the delivery of projects;• Negotiate with external authorities to ensure the delivery of projects;• Assist the Coordinator Project Management in the review and development of systems, processes and procedures t ensure management of works and ensure continuous improvements;• Manage records and documentation appropriate to the works proposed;• Provide technical advice, assistance and training to the Project Management team and other as necessary in regards to the administration of contracts and quality control to ensure projects are carried out in the most professional and effective manner, giving consideration to the aesthetics of the final result to ensure quality projects are produced;• To keep abreast of technological advances and make recommendations on cost effective ways of utilising the technology in the section as appropriate;• To ensure that all systems and policies required to be implemented in the delivery of assets are compiled with including WHS and Environmental Protection

My work at Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) was based on a short term contract to assist in the delivery of project within the Project Management Section. My work with RMS was assisting on the Road Maintenance Council Contracts (RMCC) for the Upper Hunter, Singleton and Lake Macquarie Councils and the delivery of specific projects. My role with the RMCC works included,• Review and negotiate RMCC work proposal.• Prepare and issue Work Orders.• Prepare media releases of works where State funded.• Close out Surveillance Officer QA sheets and confirm payments.• Accruals and accomplishments.• During my time I also looked at benchmarking of pay items across contractors within the Hunter and prepared a survey on council clusters and sharing of services and reported the finding to the RMS manager delivery of RMCC state contracts.
