In 2009, I set up a business, having spotted a gap in the tourism market in my home county of Cornwall. I have been running all aspects of the business for the last three years. Establishing this now very lucrative business relied upon everything that I had learned during my degree course; and my hard work, dedication and time invested have been key in successfully placing us as a global leader within the industry field. My duties have included:Brand Creation and Identity: this involved all aspects of visual design including logo, brochure and website design; constant use of social media networking to encourage both new and returning custom; coming up with marketing techniques such as working with local charities and attending national boat shows. Brand identity and marketing efforts have been key in securing our strong market position.Securing intellectual property rights to protect the brand.Planning an effective distribution strategy for brochuresRecruiting and training staff to the required level. Working closely with local companies to ensure the growth of our brand and reputation.Responsible for drawing up profit targets and ensuring that they were met.In our first year we turned a profit which then saw great improvement in year two. We are now set to meet our third year profit targets.
