Position: IT-ManagerGroup size: None, but working in (close) cooperation with different members of other division within the company (quality team, prepress team, printing, administration).Responsibilities: Divided over 4 main areas:• IT- infrastructure: Keeping all current IT material in good shape and act as main contact for the different vendors which provide us with goods and services.• New IT and business initiatives: Act as main contact for new developments regarding digital asset management, web site, intranet. Play a major role in de definition phase of these projects.• Prepress related consulting: from my previous background (see below) advice on any decisions with regard to investments, workflows, technology.• Automation and integration: Try to improve the degree of integration between de different systems which are deployed within the company. Between MIS and prepress, prepress and press, MIS and press etc etc.

Position: Software R&D Manager, Printer Systems DivisionGroup size: 32 people subdivided over• 10 Software R&D people in Gent• 7 Software R&D people in Prague• 10 Software R&D people in Chennai (India)• 5 persons in supporting roles (Testing, Documentation, UI, alfa and beta follow up).Responsibilities: Taking full responsibilities for one of the division (Commercial Printing Systems) within the Barco Graphics group. These included:• People management aspects (bridge the gaps between the groups in different countries and make them act as one).• Main role as communicator between the different groups (internally) as well as towards other division and towards general management and other groups in the division (customer support, marketing, etc…)• Define a strategy (for the software products) for the division (this can be broken down towards client server architecture, applications (RIP’s) and editors) and convey this strategy towards all involved.
