Within the technical purchasing division it is our teams responsibility to make sure that all ships of the Jan De Nul fleet are provided with the necessary spare parts at the best conditions. Our sub teams focus is on the spare parts related to engines of the ships and their propulsion... all team members having allocated a certain number of ships and as an extra a specific specialization group; for myself this is pumps…Within this job my main focusses are:- supplier evaluation- creating price requests at the most appropriate suppliers- evaluating all price offers and placing the order at the best suitable supplier- follow up of complaints (quality / quantity / unclear denomination of articles / …)- keeping all data on articles up to date (either by updating ourselves or by informing the necessary departments, case dependent)- solving incorrect invoices- looking for alternatives in the market for products which are not being sold anymore or cheaper alternatives- creating price lists with existing suppliers

In my function as Packaging Buyer my responsibilities are very broad:- tendering, contracting and vendor evaluation for all suppliers of packaging materials which are being mastered from the local site- operational integration of new suppliers which were selected by the central purchasing department (located Zürich, head office BC => 5 product categories: buckets, flexible film, big bags, paper bags and corrugated)- making sure that all BOM's of the solid chocolate references are up to date in order for a correct price - update all prices which are being uploaded in our ERP-system (SAP)- contract management - follow up of all disputed invoices- optimisation / rationalisation of all packaging materials used in the Barry Callebaut Wieze site - ...Since I took my role as packaging buyer may main realisations are:- mapping all different pallet formations used in Barry Callebaut Wieze- saving 10% on invoiced price of wooden pallets + extension of payment terms (30 days net to 60 days net) + optimisation of the second hand pallet flow + introduction of a controlled inflow of secondhand wooden pallets- saving 8% on invoiced price of plastic buckets (25KG) due to a switch from a 30L bucket to a 27L bucket- rationalisation of the stored pallets - operational introduction of some new suppliers

When working in the Pricing department of Barry Callebaut it is your job to calculate the correct price for every customer. My responsibility within the team were all industrial customers in Germany and the United Kingdom. In order to do a correct pricesetting is it very important to see the big picture of what Barry Calllebaut is doing. You have to understand the whole process from cocoabean attached to the tree until the chocolate delivered to the customer. This means that in the job you have a lot of interdepartemental contacts (Purchasing, Controlling, Accountancy, Transport, Logistics, ...). On top you have to be very aware of all markets that influence your endprice. A good follow up of the different raw material markets was therefor necessary.In this job my main accomplishment was the good relationship I developed with my internal stakeholders. The better team you are, the more efficient the work and the bigger the successes that you reach. People I worked with knew what I stood for and this took our team and our work to a higher level. Seen the all round knowledge that you gather when executing this job, people from the Pricing department are seen as high potentials not to stay within the department but to take their knowledge and use it in later more strategical jobs within the company.
