Senior Reliability Engineer
CurrentFrom July 2014 the Cadia Valley Electrical and Mechanical Reliability group amalgamated to increase synergy and effectiveness. I lead the reliability team consisting of 2 Electrical, 5 Mechanical Engineers and a Vibration Technician and our objective is to ensure availability and reliability of surface and underground equipment. This we achieve by focusing proactively on effective maintenance strategies, preventive technologies like Vibration Analysis, Oil Analysis, Motor Condition Monitoring and Transformer oil analysis to name a few. From a reactive perspective, we perform root cause analysis investigations to understand causes of failures and implement measures to prevent or mitigate future failures. Our equipment ranges from large conveyor belts, equipped with 4 x 1.5 MW motors to 5 dual drive ball mills driven by 4.375 MW to 8 MW wound rotor motors. We also have a 20 MW Siemens wrap around motor on a large SAG mill. We use availability and MTBF as our main equipment performance drivers. My management style is open door, ownership driven and I insist on a professional, creative and enthusiastic mindset.
