Managing DirectorP G Deane Associates Dec 2013 - PresentSydney, AustraliaUpon retirement from the full time role of Project Director/Alliance Manager for New Future Alliance, I continue to provide experienced design development and construction input to a range of property investment and building related clients. Currently most time is being devoted to Broad Construction Services in NSW, acting in a Business Development capacity, as this branch recovers from the construction downturn generated by the GFC.

Project Director/Alliance ManagerNew Future Alliance (Leighton Contractors, Broad Constructions, Ngarda Civil & Mining, Opus) 2011 - 2013Darwin Area, AustraliaWhen I was asked to join and run New Future Alliance, it was not functioning well with very poor communication and trust between the partners. Budgets were being exceeded and the Alliance therefore was on formal notice to close operations. During this time, I led the rejuvenation of the alliance turning it around to become one of Broad’s most successful projects and one in which all partners worked willingly together for the betterment of the programme. It is expected that the Alliance will continue to deliver outstanding indigenous outcomes (remote housing constructions & indigenous training) though to 2018. Total Turnover as at 2013 approx $450M

General Manager And DirectorBroad Construction Services (Nsw/Vic/Act) 2004 - 2009Sydney, AustraliaWhen I joined Broad in this role, the company was less than 1 year old in these states with no market credibility or track record. Over my seven year tenure I built the operation into a well regarded and trusted construction organisation in the second tier construction market, with a turnover in excess of $100M p.a.It is a matter of history that during 2008, NSW was one of the first states to experience a severe construction decline (as a result of the GFC), thus generating a need to reduce staff and retarget company directions. I managed the company activities during this very difficult period before transferring to the NT for a specific Alliance role.

General ManagerCordukes Limited 2002 - 2004Sydney, AustraliaI was invited to join the Cordukes construction company, as part of a restructure and reinvigoration of its activities. The company itself was some 70 years old but lacked direction and expertise. Due to cash problems it had been run down despite joining with Thomas and Coffey – an engineering and mining maintenance company. Four branch offices along the East Coast of Australia came under my control. Over a two year period traction was made to grow the business however, following that time the Board of Directors decided to vacate the Cordukes construction business and to concentrate on the Thomas and Coffee fee for service engineering and maintenance business. This was despite the fact that 3 of the 4 branch offices were profitable, with the 4th branch office still undergoing an organisational rebuild. -
Senior Development ManagerAbigroup Ltd 2000 - 2002Sydney, AustraliaDuring this period I ran the development activities for Abigroup, working on a number of interesting and diverse opportunities. I left this role when I was invited to join and to run Cordukes.

Project Director Sydney Superdome (All Phones Arena)Abigroup Ltd 1997 - 2000Sydney, AustraliaThe Sydney Superdome was a BOOT scheme between Abigroup and the NSW Government. It was designed and built under my direction, for the Sydney 2000 Olympics along with the associated P1 Car Park – the largest structured car park in the Southern Hemisphere. With total cost in excess of $300M this magnificent building was designed and built in under 2 years including gaining all required approvals. At peak the construction turnover per month on this single site was $22M. As Project Director for this BOOT scheme I reported to both the Abigroup (Chairman and CEO), and the NSW Government (Olympic Coordination Authority). The project was a great success with the creation of a vibrant positive working relationship between Government and non government partners.

General Manager Building (Nsw)Abigroup Ltd 1992 - 1997Sydney, AustraliaAbigroup was a small civil and building construction company when I joined in 1992 with a total turnover of approx $150M p.a. My role was to develop both building construction and project management activities in NSW. During this period I grew the building construction business to over $120M p.a. and we became a trusted construction partner for a wide range of respected clients. Additionally and most importantly for a period of 2 years I became Project Director for the Galleria Morley Shopping Centre – a construction project of approx $450M in value. This shopping centre was developed by Coles Myer and Colonial Mutual and it was these two companies that appointed me as Project Director. The Galleria Morley Shopping Centre remains one of the largest and most successful (and state of the art) shopping centres in Western Australia.
