Adjunct writing professors at SUNY Purchase teach a mandatory College Writing class to freshmen and transfer students. Writing for Transformation is a personal curriculum created to engage students in three distinct writing assignments over the course of 28 bi-weekly class sessions. 40 students across two classes meet with the professor one on one for each of the three Units. Each unit is built around a writing assignment. The unit papers include a personal nonfiction essay, a persuasive essay, and a research paper where the primary goal is discovering truth.

Adjunct Speech professors at Mercy College teach an introductory Speech class that focuses on four distinct speeches over the course of 28 bi-weekly class sessions as well as a Mid-Term and Final Exam. 15 students engage in a three to five minute Informative Speech without research, a three to five minute Informative Speech with research, a group persuasive speech with research where groups of three to four students break the speech into five minute sections, and an individual six to eight minute persuasive speech.
