I've worked as an Electrical Engineer at GE Global Research for over 15 years, learning a ton of various skills from laying out industry leading power semiconductor devices to developing database systems to handle electrical test data from many different systems to enable device failure analysis and creating applications to automate and simplify every area of engineering I could get my hands on.Despite the years of engineering, my real passion has always been the coding side of the work. I come alive when I can re-shape data in code to make it alive and usable by the people I work with. From building a database back-end (usually in MySql) to creating user facing interfaces in any number of programming languages (html/javascript, Labview, vb.net, python, react, etc.) I just love solving tough problems in code.Lately I've been polishing up on my React and javascript skills, filling in the gaps left by being self-taught with a concerted effort to go through some online training with rigor and attention to understanding the principles behind some of the best practice designs used in the industry. The Advanced React tutorials taught on Scrimba have been a great resource! Thank you to the team over there for putting out such great content.
