Peter Demuth is a seasoned executive manager and business attorney with substantial experience with boards of directors, professional and financial services management, risk management, sustainability and corporate responsibility, and business transactions. Peter is a member (“partner”) of the corporate and securities practice at Mintz Levin, a 500 attorney international law firm. He provides strategic counsel on a broad range of corporate, fiduciary, operational and transactional issues, including mergers and acquisitions, investments and financings, fiduciary and governance matters, other complex transactions, business start-ups and general corporate matters. Peter is an experienced advisor who works with public and private companies, nonprofit organizations and entrepreneurs in several industries including consumer products, insurance and financial services and health care. From 2005 through 2014 Peter led and managed Mintz Levin’s corporate and securities practice. From 1998 to 2003 Peter served as Chief Strategy and Business Development Officer and Chief Counsel for Sun Life Financial’s United States operations. At Sun Life Peter managed acquisition and disposition activity, lead US strategy development, and managed two operating subsidiaries. Peter also restructured and oversaw the law and compliance departments including managing corporate governance, business acquisitions and dispositions, dispute resolution, regulatory matters, investments, product development and distribution, intellectual property matters and human resource matters. Peter was a member of Mintz Levin’s Policy Committee from 2006 to 2015, and served as a member of several nonprofit boards and several Sun Life boards. Peter has counseled numerous boards on fiduciary, operational and transformational transaction matters.
