Seqwater operates and maintain $11.9 billion of water supply assets, including dams, weirs, water treatment plants (WTPs), reservoirs, pumps and pipelines, as well as climate resilient water sources such as our desalination plant and recycled water scheme.As CEO Peter was responsible for all aspects of running one of Australia largest water utilities including strategy development and implementation, financial management, risk management, workforce planning, stakeholder engagement and communications/media.Peter and his leadership team have accomplished a great deal in Seqwater’s first 3.5 years, achieving significant benefits for the people of South East Queensland. This has involved the Kooragang Island industrial recycled water scheme which when constructed will recycle 3.3 GL/per year. As part of this initiative Peter led a team that was able to secure $8.8 million in Federal Funding to provide renewable energy for Hunter Waters recycled water initiatives. • Significant achievements in making the organisation more energy efficient and ready for a carbon-based economy. Initiatives implemented by the team are saving over $1.0 million per annum.• Introduction of the next generation of capital governance/ prioritisation tools to ensure Hunter Water consistently decides on the right projects to deliver.• An increased focused on long term planning, real options analysis, decision making approaches and adaptive planning approaches. A planning roadmap has been developed that documents Hunter Water’s approach to planning.• Development of the Lower Hunter Effluent Management Master Plan.• Development of our “Greenprint” for sustainable urban water management in the Hunter and dealing with the impacts of climate change.• Peter has been on the Alliance Leadership Group for the Hunter Treatment Alliance delivering over $150 million of wastewater treatment and recycled water upgrades through the Hunter.
