I am a Director at MCA Architects and Healthcare Lead of a dedicated and highly specialist team of architects and technologists whose focus is to deliver innovative solutions in challenging live hospital environments.I have over 28 years’ experience in the delivery of all aspects of healthcare provision from tertiary acute projects of national importance to non-acute primary care and residential units in both the private and public fields. When I first joined MCA in 2000, I was the project lead on numerous prestigious fit outs for the financial, commercial and tech sectors including the headquarters for Accenture and KBC Bank, Bank of Montreal, the Four Seasons Hotel and the Data Protection Commissioner, amongst others. My field of experience included the successful delivery of smaller healthcare projects such as Primary Care Centres before quickly developing a taste for resolving the complex requirements posed by this unique sector. I am passionate about spearheading healthcare projects, ensuring crafted and responsive design solutions are delivered on time and within budget. A detailed understanding of construction techniques, contract and site administration enables me to craft cost effective and beautiful environments that will add intrinsic value to the client’s service provision and elevate the patient’s experience without impacting on the existing operational care facilities. I relish the range of complex challenges to be addressed when developing healthcare facilities which unlike other environments are subject to increased standards and must achieve the highest levels of quality of finish. It brings me great joy to solve what was considered by others to be an impossible combination of brief requirements. My key goal is to continue to inspire my healthcare team to deliver best in class, client focused innovative design solutions. Leading by example, I promote the importance of nurturing and maintaining strong client relationships with considered and prompt design responses, achieving programme commitments and leading the supporting teams through good communication. Risks are addressed by the implementation of fully considered designs. As the IMS Manager for MCA, I am responsible for achieving and maintaining the company’s combined ISO 9001,14001 and 45001 standards. Quality remains at the forefront of every aspect of my approach to delivering healthcare projects.
