Lead the effort to introduce object oriented design in UML and object oriented coding in C++.Managed a project to add Datalink communications applications to the Honeywell FMS. Lead the effort to develop a reusable software module with a well-defined API that includes Datalink ATN and FANS applications. This module is designed be platform independent and will provide the core functions for several Datalink products.Lead a team of systems and software engineers responsible for the design, implementation and testing of several functions in the Airborne Environment Surveillance System (AESS). Team responsibility included presentation of terrain, weather and traffic information on displays; audio and visual alert management; AFDX, Ethernet and ARINC 429 interfaces.Lead engineer for AESS to FMS integration. Worked with AESS and FMS engineers to develop and implement the trajectory specification that allows the FMS flight plan to be displayed on the AESS vertical display. Developed test scenarios and debugged the interfaceCoordinated the tasks of engineers at multiple sites including Redmond, Phoenix, Columbia Maryland, Bangalore India and Moscow Russia.

Projects included a configurable driver for AFDX (deterministic version of Ethernet for aircraft use based on UDP protocol). The driver read a configuration file and configured the communication ports at system startup. Developed and implemented a state machine for managing and prioritizing alerts.

Managed a project to replace the Z8000 processor in the Flight Management System (FMS) with the PowerPC MPC 509. Provided technical leadership for 10 software engineers. Selected software development tools and established new software development environment. Configured RTOS. Setup tasks, timers and message queues. Converted assembly language code into C++. Generated FAA certification documentation.
