I started at Gordon Brown Law Firm in March 2015 and was fortunate enough to be offered a training contract to start in November of the same year.My first seat was within the residential conveyancing department continuing to work my paralegal caseload and being assigned more technical matters to expand upon my understanding of the area including unregistered land, trust sale and purchases and sales/purchase of part of land.My second seat was in the Wills, Trusts and Probate team. My training in the department included Will drafting, Probate, Powers of Attorney. Will instructions included meeting with many clients, in the office, at their home or in hospital to take detailed instruction on preparation. Probate matters included grant only and assisting on preparation of forms for taxable estates. Prepared both Property and Financial Affair and Health and Welfare Powers of Attorney.Final seat was within the Family Law department. This seat focused on assisting with matters of Divorce, Finance, NMOs and Child Welfare. Responsibilities included taking instruction and preparing papers for divorce petitions and finance hearings. Attended court and various dispute hearings numerous times in relation to the above.
