Afghanistan

Led force of 50 helicopters and 700 personnel from all three armed services to deliver rapid, effective and coordinated aviation attack, reconnaissance, logistic and medical evacuation support to UK, US and Afghan combat units.

Andover, Hampshire

Chair of 8 tri-service working groups. Directed and integrated the activity of multi-disciplinary subject matter experts to deliver flagship defence helicopter and simulator programmes for all three services, including RAF Chinook Mk 3, Army Wildcat and Dauphin N3. Instrumental in convincing the National Audit Office and Public Accounts Committee to retain the £180M upgrade programme for the RAF Puma Mk 2 helicopter.

Afghanistan

Leader of separate detachments of Royal Navy, Army and Royal Air Force helicopters and transport aeroplanes on operations across southern and eastern Afghanistan. 200 personnel and 12 aircraft.

Bury St Edmunds

Led team to set up a new Army Air Corps Territorial Army (TA) unit.Wrote business case to secure funding and delivered new buildings, vehicles and training simulators.Delivered unit headquarters and first squadron of 100 part-time reservists.Within three years unit had deployed approx 100 reinforcements to stretched front line units in Afghanistan.

Northern Ireland

Operations director (COO role) for Army and RAF Joint Helicopter Force in Northern Ireland and programme director for infrastructure development for centralisation of all Army and RAF aviation in Province.Wrote business case and secured £12M capital funding. Programme resulted in annual savings of approx £7M through manpower reductions and a one off saving of £1M in recovered aviation fuel.

Wiltshire

Led 220 personnel (military and contractors) and 20 helicopters, at three bases around GB, providing aviation support to the armed forces and MOD, 18 hours per day 7 days per week.
