About Peter Eden
As a former biotechnology industry scientist and research director who made an intentional shift to higher education, I bring STEM industry experience to institutions along with the drive to make a difference in peoples’ lives. My background is therefore unique among educational administrators and provides the rare ability to understand many perspectives needed to implement inventive, adaptive approaches to achieving institutional goals. Each of my career advancements has delivered a greater opportunity to develop programs and enable outcomes that genuinely make a difference. At present, being part of an industry faced with rapid change has allowed a “big bang pace” of important improvements to approaches and modalities of learning – all with the primary objective of student success, now and into the future. As leader of an institution, I am the “living logo” of that institution. Therefore, I am responsible for establishing and maintaining leadership culture, developing and implementing strategies, and strengthening relationships within the institution and among the community, alumni, and donors. Select Achievements:► Drove inclusive, turnaround efforts and program expansion at Landmark College, growing the institution from a two-year niche school to a diverse institution offering undergraduate degrees, short-term and graduate programs, and rapidly expanding online offerings. ► Spearheaded and led collaborative strategic planning efforts throughout my career in education to develop multiple undergraduate and graduate-level degree programs, to set integrated marketing and admissions plans, and to introduce improved systems leading to institutional and student success.► Serve as chief fundraiser at Landmark, where each year we set Annual Fund records. We also have completed several significant capital and major fundraising campaigns and are engaged in the quiet phase of a comprehensive campaign.► In a deliberately inclusive fashion, helped to establish the Centers for Diversity and Inclusion and the Center for Neurodiversity – both at Landmark. Also, I have championed discovery research, grant funding efforts, and strategic alliances and partnerships, which are critical to diversifying revenue streams and augmenting efforts tied to student success.I welcome discussion.edenpeter@gmail.com

President, Ceo ► Program Creation And Expansion | Grants & Fundraising | Business Partnerships
By applying my broad background and scientific mindset (strengthened by arts and sciences experiences) in an educational leadership role, I help institutions intentionally evolve and adapt while maintaining their unique mission and ethos. As former Landmark College president, I led a team dedicated to creating an environment where students with neurodiversity realize their full potential.During my tenure, I spearheaded strategies and implemented plans that have helped Landmark grow from a two-year specialty college to a well-rounded institution offering associate, bachelors, and graduate-level programs.Select achievements:► Program Expansion: Developed and launched B.A. and B.S. degrees; a graduate-level online certificate program; dual enrollment online programs. Instrumental in expansion of our online programs to the Bay Area of CA in order to grow our online programs and initiate development of early college/transition programs for bright learners needing our pedagogy and support systems► Diversity and Inclusion: Worked closely with faculty, staff, and students to continually create and improve inclusive learning and living environments, which focus on intentional dialogue and the strengths found in differences► Strategic Planning: Worked with all constituents to create institutional strategic plans, including Goals, Objectives, Tactics, along with Strategic Financial Plans to fund the vision and efforts► Marketing and Admissions Strategies: Led collaborative efforts to develop detailed implementation plans for integrated marketing and recruiting efforts, including components related to analytics, understanding of “spend-return,” branding and identity, etc.► Fundraising: Success in our Major Gifts, Capital and other major fundraising efforts resulted in a new STEM Center, a turf athletics field, and greatly strengthened scholarship baseI welcome conversation.edenpeter@gmail.com
Dean Of Arts And Sciences, Professor Of Biotechnology
As Dean and professor at Endicott College, I worked closely with senior leadership and oversaw administrative duties in the Arts and Sciences School, which consisted of three divisions (Humanities, Social Sciences, and Science & Technology), and worked towards interdisciplinary endeavors and programming with many other departments. My industry and STEM experience bridged an important gap between the institution and local business, helping to establish strategic partnerships, develop new science and business programs, and lay the foundation for business incubators and entrepreneurship activities that benefit students, faculty, and the college.Endicott’s mission is driven by experiential learning, including required professional internships, which is becoming increasingly valuable and expected by students and parents. With this focus in mind, I harnessed my STEM industry background to help generated meaningful, focused partnerships related to research and overlapping with academic programming.Achievements and initiatives:► Envisioned and established the initial efforts that helped to create business incubators that connect Endicott to local biotech/STEM businesses for internships► Supported the creation of many new academic programs (from STEM to the Humanities and to the Social Sciences) and a culture of Discovery Research► Provided the impetus and momentum for a new science and business facility► Involved in fundraising, accreditation, assessments, and strategic planning as a member of the Institutional Strategic Planning Committee
Science Department Chairperson, Tenured Associate Professor
After my intentional shift to academia from the STEM industry and private research, I was recruited to Chair the Science Department at Marywood University. I also taught undergraduate courses and ran my NSF-funded STEM research lab with students. Because of my zeal for education combined with my love of science and research, I was instrumental in working with others to grow the department’s reach, enrollment goals, and ultimate success for students and the institution.Achievements:► Received NSF funding for my immunobiology and molecular genetics discovery research program, which supported considerable student discovery research activities► Worked closely with others to design, promote, and implement new academic programs, including a B.S. in Biotechnology, a Professional Science Masters (M.S. Biotechnology 3+2 program), and a 5-year Physician Assistant M.S. degree► Proposed and laid the groundwork for academic courses using web-based formats, and was the first at the University to develop and teach an undergraduate-level online courseOther responsibilities included generating academic program assessment reports and plans (e.g. Middle States, NCATE, PDE); championing grant proposal writing; evaluating faculty member credentials for rank promotion and tenure; etc.
Research Fellow At Jackson Lab; Visiting Faculty At College Of The Atlantic
After completing post-doctoral training at M.I.T. and leading critical projects as Research Project Director at IPSEN (Biomeasure, Inc.), I felt a strong desire to make a difference in the lives of students as a professor. To transition from the biotech/pharma industry to higher education, I became a research fellow at the globally-recognized genetics research institution, Jackson Lab, to develop a molecular genetics and immunobiology research platform suitable for a faculty position. To gain important teaching experience, I taught Microbial Ecology as a visiting professor at College of the Atlantic in Bar Harbor, ME. In my previous experience at Biomasure/IPSEN, I started as a Molecular Biologist/Scientist and advanced to Research Project Director. I managed research/R&D projects from discovery stage through pre-clinical testing and up to clinical testing; led several multi-million-dollar drug discovery and development programs related to cancer and GI disorders. As a Post-Doctoral Scientist at M.I.T. I trained in the lab of Dr. Vernon Ingram, who discovered the mutation leading to sickle cell anemia when he was in the same U.K. lab as Drs. Watson and Crick. My work consisted of conducting discovery research related to Alzheimer’s disease (mammalian cell biology) and presenting and publishing findings related to our research program: The role of Tau protein in neurobiological processes related to Alzheimer’s dementia.
