Lead the EHS Program for Space Florida, an Independent Special district of the State of Florida, for the purposes of fostering the growth and development of a sustainable and world-leading space industry in Florida.Responsible for managing all aspects of the Space Florida EHS program. Provide direction to Space Florida personnel, contractors, vendors and tenants ensuring all Space Florida programs and facilities comply with all government regulations and standards. Integrate safety and environmental programs and initiatives seamlessly into daily operational processes. Primary EHS point of contact for all Space Florida projects. Space Florida projects include development and construction of state of the art one of a kind facilities for specialized manufacturing, engineering, and aerospace customers and partners.Ensure compliance with all EHS regulatory requirements and all Space Florida EHS policies and standards. Develop/coordinate implementation of appropriate Health, Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental and Process Safety Programs. Lead major environmental projects. Examples include Environmental Assessment for FAA Commercial Launch Licensing activities for a horizontal launch and landing site, Environmental Baseline Surveys for Government property transfers, stormwater permitting including wetland mitigation and enhancement projects.

Space Life Science Laboratory, At The Kennedy Space Center

Serve as the Environmental Health and Safety Manager for CSS-Dynamac Corporation at the Space Life Science Laboratory at Kennedy Space Center, as well as provide direction to Space Florida personnel, contractors, and tenants ensuring all Space Florida facilities comply with all governmental regulations including OSHA, EPA, DOT, NASA, Air Force, FDEP, FDOT. Act as the Facility liaison with local, state and other emergency response and regulatory agencies.Provide the leadership to develop and implement programs, plans and procedures to meet or exceed safety and environmental performance goals. Communicate risks, violations, and areas of concern to executive management. Present materials in clear concise format to Space Florida, Dynamac, NASA and other government agencies and officials.

Perform as the program manager for Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) and Registered Storage Tanks programs for the base operations contractor, URS, for the Institutional Services Contract (ISC) at the Kennedy Space Center (KSC). Ensure environmental compliance, write and conduct environmental training, coordinate with NASA, EPA, and state inspectors.Recommend and implement plans to minimize environmental impacts including surveys of threatened and endangered species, hazardous materials management, waste determinations and disposal, and environmental sampling.

Manage the environmental compliance program for Delaware North Companies (DNC), operating the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex (KSCVC). Responsible for ensuring compliance with NASA, NFPA, OSHA, federal, state, local and corporate environmental policies, laws, ordinances, rules and regulations. Including the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), Superfund Amendments and Re-authorization Act (SARA), Clean Water Act (CWA), Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA), and Emergency Planning and Right to Know Act (EPCRA).Maintain ISO 14001 registered Environmental Management System (EMS). Conduct monthly EMS meetings, review the EMS with top management for effectiveness, and conduct EMS awareness training for every employee at DNC. Audit departments for compliance with EMS standards, write nonconformances for deficiencies and improve EMS through corrective action plans with corrective action reports. Develop relationships and work with the NASA, State, local and Federal regulators, contractors and other government agencies through various working groups including the Air, Waste, Energy, and Pollution Prevention Working Groups. Complete NASA environmental checklists for all new projects at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex that may have an environmental impact.
