Xumo acquired Complete TV, where I was Principal Engineer, in May 2011. I continued with this STB architect role, but also joined the CTO Office to work on special projects, where I specialised in all aspects of video infrastructure.STB architect role for Broadcom-based 7405 & 7425 STB, coordinating with S/W Development Team in China, implementing features: HTML5 video tag, HLS, ACR, HDMI Pass-Through. Also hands-on coding, debug and testing. STB firmware release scripts and upgrade server setup.Worked within CTO Office on various technology evaluations and investigations e.g. streaming, broadcast playout, DRM, ACR, advanced advertising.Responsible for video streaming strategy and liaising with 3rd Party vendors e.g. Envivio, Harmonic, Widevine.Designed and implemented an Apple HLS IPTV video head-end in USA Data Centre using IRD, video encoders, Origin Server over CDN to STB, iOS devices, Smart TV. Included supplier selection and management of relationship. Coordination of head-end installation with Myspace Network Engineering, Storage Engineering and Data Centre teams. Redundancy via Envivio 4Manager/Nagios.Implemented Google-Widevine DRM on head-end live streams.Implemented broadcast channel workflow/playout. Project engineer, designed and managed for life-cycle of deployment, comprising Grass Valley K2-Edge playout servers and TX/MAM. Workflow used Harmonic-Rhozet WFS, included ingest of VOD content, Harmonic QCS for quality check and Harmonic ProMedia Carbon for incompatible media transcode. Content and XML metadata ingest with artist/track name display.UK Head-End installation – satellite signal acquisition. Head-End monitoring and quality - IneoQuest.Automatic Content Recognition – Project managed and worked on integration of Civolution and Audible Magic ACR SDKs onto Broadcom 7425 STB.
