About Peter Engkjær
With an educational background in Electronics Engineering and Computer Science, it was obvious for me to go into Embedded Software Development. Since I was a child I’ve had an interest in electronics, and the “fast feedback loop” of software is a good fit for my level of patience. Besides my background and experience, one of my key strengths is the ability to communicate technical topics to non-technical managers, and non-technical requirements to engineers.I live with my Brazilian wife Amanda and our son Luke in Taastrup, Denmark, where I also grew up. I like having friends and family over for some Belgian beers and slow cooked smoky barbecue, regardless of the time of year. I also like to keep up-to-date with tech news and various pop culture movies and TV shows. I also play guitar and drums in the metal genre.

I got the role of embedded software architect for the Bluetooth products, where I was involved in front-loading new projects with system architecture input, initial software design and rough estimation of work, in addition to supporting developers in all on-going projects. I was also architect on a new Bluetooth platform.Bluetooth profiles used through the years: A2DP, AVRCP, HFP. Also used SPP, iAP2 and GATT (both over BR/EDR and BLE) for device configuration. Also gained familiarity with driving and analyzing Ellisys Bluetooth air traces and USB logs.

I started as an embedded software engineer, and quickly became the “go-to” guy in the embedded software Bluetooth team, and was appointed the role of Tech Lead, in which I supported my team colleagues and other competences, while also being a hands-on developer on several projects. Through the years I’ve worked on developing the embedded software for various gaming and enterprise headsets, as well as speakerphones and USB-to-Bluetooth dongles.Work included writing drivers for external chips, e.g. using I2C and I2S, interfacing with vendor-provided RTOS-frameworks, USB- and Bluetooth-stacks, and implementing our own application code, with extensive call control handling.I’ve also helped bring up a new Bluetooth platforms as lead developer, which included designing and implementing a very flexible audio framework.
