Expertise in doing Basic Research in the field of Molecular Genetics and Cell biology with an emphasis on gene regulation and chromatin structure & function in model organisms like yeast and earlier also human cell lines. I have personal "hands on" experience of a large number of assays and technologies used in a research laboratory focusing on molecular genetics, cell biology and biochemistry. I have decades of experience mentoring students and staff in a laboratory setting, I have been teaching students and presented my work in various national and international venues. I have also experience from organizing an effective research laboratory environment and building & maintaining & repairing laboratory equipment.I am planning to move into the area of studying whole genome changes of chromatin structure by use of whole genome sequencing of chromatin positioning sequences (Illumina Next Gen Seq). I am also planning on starting a project looking at more precise positioning of protein complexes in the genome by use of ChIP-Seq technology.I have co-authored a large number of published research articles in peer-reviewed Science journals with high impact value.Specialties: Recombinant DNA technology (DNA/RNA manipulation, detection, sequencing, synthesis, purification in large to small scale, Northern, Southern), protein purification and detection (Western, FPLC, EMSA, small to medium scale purification and analysis, incl. mass-spec analysis), Micro-array technology, DNA sequence analysis etc using specialized software.
