As an experienced Tyre technician, my responsibilities include maintaining and operating a mobile fitting van. This job includes the changing and maintenance of Tyres on four hundred vehicles providing the fleet with Tyre rotation, mounting/demounting of new/part worn Tyres and repair of punctures. Daily I have trailer and unit MOT’s, Tyre defects and casing control. A fleet this size and as fast moving as it is, it has given me the ability to be self-motivated and organized for fleet management/ maintenance.

In such a busy depot of 11 members of staff, my position here is to make sure the customers that come through the door have the best experience possible. Daily organization of breakdowns for the four commercial fitting Van's. Booking of MOT’s and the fitting of Tyres. Apart from the organization skills required my other responsibilities are stock control and health and safety within the center and in our vans to make sure everyone is in a safe working environment.

A very enjoyable role this was as it gave me the confidence to interact with various people. I enjoyed maintaining the relationship between myself and the large customer base that was built over the time I have been in the Tyre industry. Because of all the different characters within the customer base it made my selling to each customer a different experience by using different techniques. The achievements I gained and pride myself on from setting up new customers with the materials they require to selling the first every Vulcstar major repair machine in Scotland.

As a Tyre technician my responsibilities included changing Tyres of all sizes and applications from Car/Van, commercial, Agricultural with a small amount of OTR. I am knowledge about agricultural Tyre including combine Tyres. My role then moved on to me taking on more responsibility in the office, dealing with customers query’s, invoicing, taking phone calls and ordering stock. I was then moved up to manager to run the center with the business development manager.

My employment with McConechys Tyre service was to maintain a fleet of over one hundred and fifty vehicles. I was here to rotate Tyres, recut, mount and demount when required. As the storage of Tyres was left on site I also to control of my own stock.

My career in the Tyre and automotive industry started here in the Youth training scheme. It was my responsibility to efficiently and effectively attend to passenger car Tyres and general housekeeping of the working area. I was given more responsibilities by counting stock on a weekly basis. The time here I have had various different roles from depot fitter (keeping depot clean and tidy and looking after customer needs), fleet fitter (having a large fleet of units and trailer, organizing MOT's, defects, general fleet maintenance), Breakdown fitter (maintaining works van whilst covering roadside and yard breakdowns), I have also worked in the office invoicing, retrieving order numbers, taking on breakdowns. My last position within the company was being part of a team that took on and improved a center and the customer base it had.
