At Lummus Technology, I contribute to the basic engineering of chemical plant design as a process engineer. My job is to model and optimize the process of turning low value feedstock into high value products for our clients. Simply put, I do this through the laws of thermodynamics and the art of engineering. Additional responsibilities include equipment design, heat and material balances, utility balances, process flow diagrams (PFD), and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID). Most of my experience is in the ethylene technology.My role involves collaborating in small teams, which includes directing and reviewing work of less experienced engineers and reporting results all the way up to upper management.I deal with thousands of numbers every day. It is my responsibility to a) generate accurate and reliable data, b) analyze this data to optimize the process and design all aspects of the plant, and c) to convince technical and upper management of my conclusions through data visualization, presentations, and reports.I've conducted training on proprietary mathematical software used for process optimization and economic/net present value (NPV) analysis; as well as automation tools in excel. Being trusted to train in this software, as well as my proficiency in coding chemical plant simulators like Pro/II demonstrates my aptitude toward quickly learning new computer tools. I have interacted with clients, and directly provided technical solutions for their needs. I’ve also worked with vendors to ensure all schedules are met.The nature of our work is very schedule driven. I have been able to succeed in this environment through excellent organizational, time management, change management, and prioritization skills. I have played a critical role in many successful proposal efforts, and contributed to the delivery of many basic engineering packages to various clients, doing my part to make Lummus’ ethylene technology the most widely licensed in the world.
