I am a senior process engineer at Lummus Technology, the world’s leading licensor of ethylene technology. My job is to model and optimize the process of turning low value feedstock into high value products for our clients. I do this through the art of engineering and the laws of thermodynamics.I deal with thousands of numbers every day. Luckily for my company and I, I am a very technical, analytical, and methodical person. It is my responsibility to generate accurate and reliable data, analyze this data to optimize and design all aspects of the chemical plant, and to convince technical and upper management of my conclusions through data visualization, presentations, and reports.Lummus provides me with many opportunities for training in all aspects of plant design; and has also given me the responsibility to mentor junior engineers and formally train others in our plant optimization software. I’ve had the opportunity for field experience, where I was trusted with conducting the plant acceptance performance test, where the company receives final payment from its clients. I have significant contact with technical executives, responsible for presenting data driven results. I also have significant interaction with clients and vendors. Lummus is a very challenging place to work, where I am often asked to meet tight schedules and work on multiple projects as the company’s priorities shift.
